Camp Easter - July 6-13

A week of running wild in the woods, working on the farm, and connecting with family.
Attendees: Grandma, Cheryle, Neal, Cedar, Skylar, Erin, Heath, Tasha, Brian, Charlie Rae, Payton, River, Char, Nick, Avery, Odin, Blaed, Brittany, Hailey, Jaime, Linda, Ken, & Cooper 

March Work Party - March 8, 2025

Linda, Ken, Cheryle, Neal, and Ryan burned a slash pile south of powerline, removed/burnt slash to prep for planting Stand 7 (Heart Attack Hill area). We also planted 500 seedlings in Stand 4 (200 Douglas Fir) and Stand 7 (300 Douglas Fir replanting due to mountain beaver and deer damage). Ryan transplanted 22 Douglas Fir volunteers in Stand 4 where original seedlings were overgrown or killed by mountain beaver.

January Work Party - January 11, 2025

Cheryle, Blaed, Hailey, Jamie, Linda, and Neal spent this month preparing for planting by clearing and burning brush in stand 7 (South of the power lines). 

December Work Party - December 14, 2024

Ken, Ryan, & Linda spent some time making repairs to the cross barn dozer cover including clearing overhanging hazards and branches, repairing a broken beam, and cleaning the roof. Cheryle, Ken, and Ryan also cleared down trees from the driveway.

October Work Party - October 12, 2024

Cheryle and Neal used the splitter to work through the remaining wood that was too difficult to get with the axe. They also cleared dead branches and trees around the house and later lit the burn pile on a rainy day.

September Work Party - September 14, 2024

Blaed mowed all access roads. Ken mowed all pastures. 

August Work Party - Aug 10, 2024

Char, Laz, and Linda spent a week doing handyman fixups including fixing a shower nozzle, broken chair, garden work, and installing insulation under Grandma's house. They also leveled and cemented the rock path in front of the house.

All-Family Meeting - June 29, 2024

Our first annual All-Family Meeting was a success. We had a large turn out including  River, Blaed, Brittany, Hailey, Jamie, Brian, Tasha, Charlie Rae, Payton, Morgan, Josephine, Grace, Nic, Avery, Odin, Joshua, Cooper, Tyler, Jen, Christian, Cedar, Skylar, Erin, Heath, Ryan, Linda, Ken, Charlene, and Grandma. We had a special presenation from Rick and Christie Dunning as well as Linda. River led us in a vision and goals brainstorming exercise.

Work Party - May 11, 2024

Cheryle and Linda did yard work at Grandma's house and attempted some equipment repair, which eventually led to calling Ken in to assist.

WFFA Annual Meeting - April 28-30

Charlene, Cheryle, River, and Linda attended the WFFA Annual Meeting in Tacoma, WA.  See a summary of the event in the Spring 2024 newsletter. 

Work Party - April 13, 2024

We cut and burned salmonberry and blackberry bushes along the North Boundary Road and near the CRE Cedar Grove where bushes and mountain beaver have been out competing with the Douglas Fir trees. Thank you to Linda and Cheryle for this work!

Tree Planting - March 23-24

We planted 360 Douglas Fir trees and 40 Cedar trees with wire cages in the 2022 logging site. A total of 990 Douglas Fir trees were planted between March 17-24. We had a great turn-out of helpers for this event including: Charlene Easter; Jay Lazerwitz; Cheryle Easter; Christian Perrier; The Taciaks: Jasen, Morgan, and Josephine; The Webbs: Grace, Nick, Avery, and Odin; Ken & Linda Edwards, Josh & Cooper Edwards, Ryan Edwards, The Deals: Kristin, Logan, Cullen, and Mimi (Myrna), Izaac Smith & Natalie Walthall.

CCFFA Seedling Sale - March 16, 204

The seedling sale was a success and definitely shows that the CCFFA is supporting growing trees. 

CCFFA Annual Meeting - March 8, 2024

Linda and Cheryle attended the annual meeting. There was good attendance with a lot of food and desserts. Bob Brink resigned as president of the board and his son, Dan Brink, was voted in. Congratulations to Linda, who was elected Vice President of the CCFFA!

Work Party - February 10, 2024

Ken cleared the landing of leftover firewood logs and debris in preparation for planting. He also cleared the driveway of storm debris. Cheryle and Linda cleared the North Boundary road of storm blow down.  Finally Linda cleared storm blow down on the Ridge Road.

Work Party - December 9, 2023

Christian, Cheryle, and Linda cleared and burned brush from around the cross barn and behind the house before joining Ken, Josh, Cooper, Neal, and Tyler, Ashley, and Jen (& Pickles) cleaned out Grandpa's shop.

Thanksgiving - Nov 23, 2023

We had a small gathering at the Edwards's home this year.  Ken, Linda, MaryAnne, Char, River, and Jay attended.

Timber Craft - Nov 4, 2023

Christian presented a workshop on cyber awareness including password best practices and common red flags for phishing and social engineering scams. Get the notes in the Timber Craft Library.

Work Party - October 7, 2023

Christian, Blaed, Linda, and Cheryle placed old metal roof panels (that don't have matching patterns) over original metal roof on the barn. The goal was to cover existing leaks.

Clark County Farm Forestry Annual Picnic - June 10, 2023

Hosted by Tree Farmers of the Year, Michael and Mary Lou Woody, the picnic was held at their farm in Yacolt.
